2025 Top Tens: Our Most-Booked Cities & Regions

10. Saint-Tropez

A trip to St. Tropez must include long rosé lunches, shopping the boutiques, and time on Pampelonne beach. Visitors may be attracted to the nightlife and glamour, but there are also historical attractions worth visiting, such as the 16th century Citadel of St. Tropez or the impressionist Musée de l'Annonciade. The main square, Place des Lices, holds bi-weekly markets and extends out into a row of bustling cafes.

9. Amalfi Coast

The Amalfi Coast is postcard Italy. In Positano, terracotta rooftops tumble down the cliffs, the air smells like lemon, and the buzz never fades. Historic Amalfi offers centuries of maritime heritage, anchored by its striking cathedral and lively local trattorias. Above it all, Ravello is where you’ll find sweeping hilltop views, garden villas, and family-friendly charm. It all adds up to summer magic.

8. Rome

One of the most iconic cities in the world, Italy's capital manages to bridge the gap between ancient history and the modern luxury. Its epic history naturally results in a long list of bucket-list sights, including the Roman Forum, Colosseum, Pantheon and Vatican City, but we’d argue the charming cobblestoned neighborhoods, incredible cuisine, and gregarious locals are what really make it one of the world's best.

7. Umbria

Smack in the center of Italy between Florence and Rome, Umbria is bucolic, with gently crumbling terracotta-roofed towns sprinkled across the hillsides. It’s the only region in Italy not to be bordered by the sea or another country, allowing old-world traditions to flourish without outside influence. Cuisine features truffles and wild boar from the forests, trout from the rivers, and wines from the Orvieto vineyards. Towns date to Etruscan times, so there are ancient ruins to explore, as well as more “modern” architecture, including a stunning 14th-century Gothic cathedral at the center of Orvieto.

6. Riviera Maya

Spanning 80 miles from the southern tip of Cancun to the boho enclave of Tulum, the Riviera Maya is one of Mexico’s most popular beach destinations. The region’s mystical cenotes hide an underwater world steeped in Mayan lore. Outposts from major hotel brands and pristine golf courses are sequestered in luxury resort complexes, boutique properties give way to sugar white sand, and Mayan ruins overlook the lapping waves of the Caribbean Sea.

5. Punta Mita

A tropical paradise framed by the Sierra Madre Mountains, the Punta Mita peninsula juts into the Pacific. Once a sacred site for ancient tribes and a quaint fishing village, today a host of excellent resorts attract travelers seeking great beaches, teeming marine life, vibrant coral reefs, and excellent surfing.

4. New York City

The Big Apple has an infinite amount of personality (it’s also Local Foreigner’s home town). The buildings are taller, the people are more diverse, and the five boroughs form a more unique whole than anywhere else on earth. Home to some of the world's best museums, the city is known for its attractions, which span art, design, history, fine dining, music, and sports. No matter what you're looking for, you can find it in New York.

3. St. Barth’s

With a vibe reminiscent of the Cote d'Azur, St. Barth's entices travelers with its one-of-a-kind Caribbean ease. A trip to St. Barth’s is all about luxury, relaxation, and a French joie de vivre – all easy to find on an island where days are spent aboard yachts and nights are tuned to the sound of spirited cabarets. With frivolity as your guide, let the wind carry you from Gustavia, to Baie St. Jean, to the Cote Sauvage – your only requirement is landing at Nikki Beach on Sundays.

2. London

Steeped in history, but also on the cutting edge of contemporary culture, London oscillates between old and new with admirable flair. Walk through its neighborhoods to experience the depth of its character: somewhere between Mayfair’s posh and Hoxton’s grunge, Westminster’s heritage and Brixton’s character, you’ll find the London you were looking for.

1. Paris

The unfair task of distilling Paris into words has plagued writers for centuries. And while Hemingway’s “moveable feast” and Joyce’s “atmosphere of spiritual effort” fill us with fleeting satisfaction, the true essence of Paris will always be impossible to pin down. Instead, we rely on our mental snapshots of the city perfect – a glass of Kir on a café table, a hidden gallery in St. Germain, a sunset stroll along the Seine – and settle for at least one return visit a year.
