Brooke grew up in Michigan, where bucolic family vacations at the lake gave way to a teenage sojourn to Spain, and she was never quite the same. She graduated from Michigan State University and began a career for a Fortune 500 company in Chicago. Successful but not content she bought a round-the-world ticket, and spent a year seeking her next path on a slow journey from Europe to India and Nepal, Southeast Asia to Japan, and Australia to New Zealand. Manhattan was the end of the road, and her dual loves for travel and business culminated in a new career. Brooke spent five years at a high-end membership-based travel company based in New York prior to becoming a partner at the Local Foreigner in 2015. She now lives in Darien with her husband and three young boys.

Tatiana grew up in Greenwich, Connecticut, where she was raised by a Peruvian mother who taught her from a young age to appreciate different cultures and languages. A love of the ocean propelled her to study biology at Wake Forest University – she planned on becoming a marine biologist, hoping her career would bring her to remote and tropical locations across the world. But after a semester in Madrid, spending weekends exploring different European cities, she decided the research life wasn’t for her. Still motivated by a sense of wanderlust, Tatiana moved to New York and joined the Local Foreigner as a Travel Coordinator.

Alex grew up in Houston where her family always encouraged her to explore the world and see past her sweet state of Texas. In high school, she finally caught the travel bug on an educational trip to Greece, Italy, and France, which was the catalyst for her passion for travel. She has a BA in International Studies and English Literature from Washington University in St. Louis, and even interned for Jimmy Carter’s health center, hoping the health programs she developed would grow her mind and passport. She continued to focus on international health while studying in Switzerland for a semester but spent a lot of her time traversing through Europe on school holidays. Wanting to have a true-life experience abroad, Alex moved to Japan after college to teach English. After two years and a pandemic in the middle of rural Japan, Alex was ready for a new adventure, one focused on her love for travel. Through some acts of serendipity, she found her way to Local Foreigner. Now, this Texas gal is experiencing her next big journey, moving to Brooklyn.

Marie was born and raised in Michigan to a family of travelers who spent time exploring on school breaks. Loving all things cultural immersion, food, and travel, Marie majored in International Studies and Sociology at the University of Michigan. Post graduation, she indulged in another passion - as a florist and event planner - while the world recuperated from Covid. After a year of staying still, she moved to Italy to exercise her Italian and dive into small town Italian culture. She studied at the University of Gastronomic Sciences in Bra, Piedmont, where she ate her way through Italy and beyond. Her schooling culminated in an internship, where she moved to the Ligurian coast and worked in an Italian-speaking seaside restaurant as a chef and waitress. After completing her degree, she once again packed only what fit in her trusty suitcase, and moved to NYC to join the Local Foreigner team.

Dotsie’s love for travel has been a constant throughout her life. Growing up in Atlanta, Georgia, she spent summers along the coasts of North Carolina and Virginia’s Chesapeake Bay, and winters visiting family in Palm Beach, Florida. Her spring breaks were often spent exploring the Caribbean islands. Inspired by her travel-loving grandmother, Dotsie’s passion for adventure led her to start her own jewelry business to fund teen service trips to Maui, South Africa, and Peru, where she hiked Machu Picchu. While attending Texas Christian University, she studied abroad on South Africa's Eastern Cape, further fueling her wanderlust. Growing up, Julia’s parents made it a priority to expose her to the world beyond her small hometown of Lexington, Virginia. From road trips across the U.S. to far-flung corners of the globe, their travels instilled in her a deep appreciation for cultural immersion, natural beauty, and off-the-beaten-path experiences. Julia didn’t stray far for college—being the proud Virginia enthusiast that she is—and attended the University of Virginia, where she earned her B.A. in Economics. A summer internship in Lisbon Portugal and as many trips with friends as a college student budget would allow followed. After graduating, she moved to Washington, DC, where she spent three years at a boutique marketing and communications agency. Craving a change of pace (and scenery), she relocated to Denver for a year and a half, where she split her time between ski slopes in the winter and hiking mountains in the summer. Ultimately, though, she felt a pull toward something more fulfilling—and landed in New York City to pursue a career that blends her love for travel with her passion for client service.
