This whimsical resort in the Riviera Nayarit is a breezy, colorful retreat, where guests can unwind with a massage infused with tequila or agave. This away-from-it-all playfulness extends to the rest of the property as well: the golf carts are painted in vibrant colors inspired by Mexican street art; you can enjoy a mezcal tasting accompanied by fried grasshopper tacos; and golfers will be in heaven on the two Jack Nicklaus-designed courses, which include 3B, the world’s only hole on its own natural island. End the day with your feet in the sand at happy hour on the beach at the Shack Bar, which feels worlds away from any idea you may have of a hermetic, generic “resort.”

What We Loved: There’s something for everyone, both when it comes to accommodation types (with casitas, multi-bedroom villas, and beach homes, there’s a lodging type for families, couples, or larger groups), and when it comes to activities. Golf, spa, snorkeling, diving, seasonal whale-watching, fine dining, an epic kids’ club, a lazy river, turtle release - we could go on!

What We Didn’t Love: As is to be expected of a property that caters so incredibly to families, the rooms here could use a refresh - but you’re not here for the rooms anyway.

Right For: Families and groups who want a relaxing vacation spot that allows everyone to have fun.

Wrong For: Travelers who need the most updated, high-design rooms or couples who want an exclusively grown-up space will be better served at neighboring Naviva.

Best Time to Visit: Late November through April is prime season for pleasant weather, calm seas for swimming/snorkeling, and the highest likelihood of sightings of marine life (including dolphins and migrating whales). This is when the resort is in full swing.

TLF Tip: The sea turtle release made our whole team emotional - stay between August and December to make sure you get to experience it.
