Hotel Name: The Beverly Hills Hotel, Dorchester Collection
Number of Rooms: 209 rooms and suites and 23 iconic private bungalows
Location: On 12 acres of lush tropical gardens, just north of Rodeo Drive in the 90210
An icon since 1912, The Beverly Hills Hotel is set on 12 acres of tropical gardens on Sunset Boulevard. Known as the “Pink Palace,” the hotel itself is as immediately recognizable as many of its famous guests, with its signature banana leaf wallpaper, pink and green accents, and classic Art Deco styling. The 23 bungalows each have their own lore, whether as the favorite of Marilyn Monroe (#7), John Lennon (#10), or Frank Sinatra (#22). Its Polo Lounge remains a favorite for power lunches and celebrity sightings. With a legendary pool, full service spa, and palm lined walkways, the buzz at The Beverly Hills Hotel is unmatched, making this the ultimate see-and-be-seen hotel in Los Angeles.
What We Loved: The glamorous history here is unmatched, but it’s also a super fun contemporary scene. Local Foreigner owner Alex Erdman Ely says, “I love The Beverly Hills Hotel so much because of the buzz and all the people coming in and out - it really feels like a part of the city. It’s the opposite of Bel-Air (which I love equally), which is so intimate and quiet and secluded…this is see and be seen LA to the max.”
What We Didn’t Love: If you’re just in town for a short stay, LA traffic may make the hotel feel a bit far from the airport - this is a place you want to settle in.
Right For: Scenesters, film buffs, girls’ trips, spa enthusiasts, pampering pet owners
Wrong For: The classic decor is part of the draw here, but it may not work for travelers who love something sleek and minimalist.
Best Time to Visit: We’ll take a spa weekend here any time of the year, but if you want to work on your California tan, April to October is your best bet.
TLF Tip: Our favorite amenity is popcorn and the shake-your-own martini - vodka, please.
