The Woodward, Auberge Resorts Collection
Hotel Name: The Woodward, Auberge Resorts Collection
Number of Rooms: 26 Suites (all accommodations at the Woodward are suites!)
Location: A striking Belle-Époque, post-Haussmann-style building right on the lakefront of Lake Geneva
Housed in a grand Belle-Époque building from 1901, the Woodward has been reimagined by architect Pierre-Yves Rochon into an all-suite lakeside sanctuary. From your suite—many of which feature marble fireplaces, bespoke bookcases, Lalique touches, and impeccable views—you’ll watch reflections dance across the water and snow-capped Alps beyond. And you’ll eat well without leaving the property: L’Atelier Robuchon, Geneva’s only two-Michelin-star venue, offers destination dining, while Le Jardinier serves lighter, plant-driven plates. With an amazing spa and a pianist in Bar 37 tickling the ivories, the whole place just feels so luxuriously civilized.
What We Loved: The Guerlain Spa is major, spanning two floors and over 12,000 square feet, and boasting the city’s longest indoor pool, multiple saunas and steam rooms, and luxurious treatment rooms, perfect for relaxing before or after a trip up the mountains. “The spa experience was a 10/10!” Local Foreigner’s Kate Mitchell wrote after a recent stay.
What We Didn’t Love: Five suites don’t have a view of the lake, and it would be a shame to wake up in the morning and not get to admire those views. Fortunately, your Local Foreigner advisor knows who to ask to make sure you get a prime spot.
Right For: Families, couples, travelers who love a view, and really anyone who needs to be in Geneva, whether for one night or a longer stay.
Wrong For: If you’re looking for a lot of buzz, note The Woodward is small (26 suites), and can feel quieter and more private. It’s also a bit of a hike to the Old Town, which is something to keep in mind if you’re keen on getting out and exploring.
Best Time to Visit: Switzerland is a wow in both summer and winter - don’t make us choose a favorite - though if you’re here for Geneva proper, June through September is prime time.
TLF Tip: Have the hotel pack a picnic by Executive Chef Olivier Jean and head out onto the lake for a day on the water, which is the largest body of water in Switzerland.
