Liz is the newest member of our IC team, but her connection to Local Foreigner dates back two years, when she spotted Brooke Lavery at an industry event in New York. “I saw this woman networking with a baby strapped to her chest,” Liz recalls, “and I thought: that’s the kind of working mom I want to be.” Two years later, Brooke remembers that night well, when, fresh off maternity leave and craving adult conversation, she bundled baby Georgie in his Bjorn and made her rounds at the Chatwal for a Janine Cifelli showcase. Little did she know, she (and Georgie) were paving the way for working moms, like Liz, to become part of the Local Foreigner team.

ITCHING FOR CHANGE

Raised in Maryland, Liz moved to Manhattan after college, where she worked in SaaS sales before leading a client success team at a startup. She enjoyed working with clients and loved the startup atmosphere, but after her first child was born, Liz began itching for a career change. With shifting priorities and a growing family, she knew she needed a job with a flexible schedule and work-from-home policy. Always an avid traveler, Liz decided to bridge her client service experience with her passion for travel and become an independent travel advisor. Fast forward four years later, and Liz is now a member of the Local Foreigner IC team…and the one wearing the Bjorn, baby Christian in tow!

Bringing Southern charm to soho

Now based in Charlotte, Liz brings a healthy dose of southern charm to the Local Foreigner team. She has traveled across Europe, the Caribbean, and the South Pacific, but always looks forward to yearly summer vacations on Georgia’s Sea Island. This year, she’ll be partnering with fellow TLF IC, Cally Pirrung, to create a blog column dedicated to the American south. The duo looks forward celebrating southern hospitality by showcasing the region’s famous cuisine, culture, and way of life.

Liz loves being part of a dynamic, female-led team where goal setting and knowledge sharing are top priorities.

With her tech-focused background, Liz is particularly impressed with The Local Foreigner’s forward-thinking, efficient systems: “The infrastructure TLF has invested years into building has significantly reduced the time I spend on administrative tasks, which allows me to focus on my business more strategically.” Liz notes, “My clients love the ease of submitting new trip inquiries through our user-friendly platform!” But for Liz, The Local Foreigner’s CRM, efficient processes and procedures aren’t the only things that shine. She loves being part of a dynamic, female-led team where goal setting and knowledge sharing are top priorities.

THE NEXT CHAPTER

Liz already had years of travel planning experience under her belt, but joined the Local Foreigner team eager to sharpen her tools and strengthen her foundations. And while she’s at the beginning of her journey with us, she’s already on the path to building something great!
